"One more sleep" by Leona Lewis

Morning to everyone!

Now that Christmas is almost here, today we are going to work on a special song. As you know, songs help us improve both our listening and speaking skills. In case you are following this class from home, in the following link you can download the worksheet to fill the gaps on it.

First, read all the verses and the chorus and try to predict the type of words that might fit in each one of the blanks. This strategy helps you with your listening skills. After reading it, it is time to listen to the song!

You can listen to it as many times as you need or wish. After that, compare your answers with the following video that shows the lyrics.

How many words did you get right? If you feel like it, let us know in the comments section.

I hope you liked it!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Hi there!

Did you know that Santa's Reindeer names are Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner, Blitzen and Rudolph? Here you have a song about the most famous one!

Lyrics

You know Dasher and Dancer and Prancer and Vixen.
Comet and Cupid and Donner and Blitzen.
But do you recall
the most famous reindeer of all?

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Hope you like it!

"Christmas without you" by Ava Max

Morning to everyone!

Today we are going to work on a Christmas song. Before listening, here you have an online activity to practise some of the words that appear in the lyrics. Ready?

Now it is time to listen to the song! As you know, songs help us improve both our listening and speaking skills.

In case you are following this class from home, in the following link you can download the worksheet to fill the gaps. Good luck!

Finally, here you can have a look at the lyrics and check your worksheets:

Lights on the trees under falling snow
You get a bit closer when a winter's cold
Now I can't wait 'til you're by my side
All of the best gifts, you just can't buy

Wherever you go, you light up the room
I hope that you'll make it back home soon
'Cause it won't feel like Christmas without you

I wish we were kissing under mistletoe
The stars on the sky just can't match your glow
Now I can't wait 'til you're by my side
We'll be warm by the fire all night, ohh

I wanna hold you while the bells are all ringing
Want you to be here while the angel's singing
Days are perfect when I got you near
My only wish is you here

Wherever you go, you light up the room
I hope that you'll make it back home soon
'Cause it won't feel like Christmas without you
Wherever you are, you brighten the Moon
I hope that you'll make it back home soon
'Cause it won't feel like Christmas without you
(Without you)

We could be outside dancing on the moonlight
Watching the sky roll over our heads
We could be inside trying to sing the lines right
Laughing until we fall out of bed
So when I wake up on Christmas Day
I hope the first thing I see is your face

Wherever you go, you light up the room
I hope that you'll make it back home soon
'Cause it won't feel like Christmas without you
Wherever you are, you brighten the Moon
I hope that you'll make it back home soon
'Cause it won't feel like Christmas without you
(Without you)

It won't feel like Christmas without you.

Hope you like it!

Prepositions: Across vs. Through

Hi there!

As I told you, here you have some extra resources in order to fully understand the difference between "across" and "through". First of all, let's watch this video, it's very illustrative!

Besides, the following image will help you to notice the difference between them:

Finally, here you have a written explanation in case you need further information about them:

a. Movement: When we talk about movement from one side to another but ‘in something’, such as long grass or a forest, we use through instead of across:

- I love walking through the forest. (through stresses being in the forest as I walk)

- When my dog runs through long grass, it’s difficult to find him. (through stresses that the dog is in the grass)

b. Time: When referring to a period of time from start to finish, American English speakers often use through where British English speakers say from … to/till …:

- The office is open Monday through Friday, 9 am–5 pm. (preferred British form: from Monday to Friday)

I hope you find this useful. See you in class!

English 4th Grade: Online classes

This is my favourite book because it is ____ (adjective).

World Book Day!

Happy World Book Day and happy reading to everyone!

Friday, 22 April 2022

The World Book Day is almost here!

Morning to everyone!

English 6th Grade: Oral speaking project!

Morning to everyone,

As discussed in class, you are expected to carry out an oral speaking project based on the activity that appears on page 59 in your English textbooks.

You can interview a relative of yours in case they speak English or you can also pair up with one of your classmates if it is easier for you. You are supposed to adopt new identities, act out as journalists that interview people about films. Remember, these are the questions:

- What's your name?
- Can you tell me how to spell it, please?
- Can you tell me what films you like?
- Are there any films that you don't like?
- Can you tell me what the last film you watched was?
- Do you know which films are showing at the cinema at the moment?

Once you have recorded the final version, please upload the audio file to our Padlet wall. Feel free to ask any questions about this project. The deadline is Monday 21st March.

Here you can see how to upload your audio files. Do your best!

See you!
