Science 6th Grade: Unit 6 - Matter changes

Hello to everyone,

As usual, here you have a compilation of resources from unit 6. All of them are very useful for you because you can practise your listening skills, revise the new contents, and also expand your knowledge about the contents in your books.

2. Separating mixtures


In this video the different methods of separating mixtures are explained in detail.


The following one treats the same topic in depth. It offers more complex scientific responses to these processes. Don't worry if you find it hard to understand every single word, keep in mind that this material is for native speakers of English and it is not graded.

6th Grade: Science Class - Tuesday 11th January

Morning to everyone,

As usual, here you can see a summary of what we did today in class for those of you who are following these classes from home.

Today we checked our mind-maps. Here you can see the most important aspects that yours should include: 

- Title (título)
- Definition of health (definición de salud)
- First branch: Which things influence our health? Name the four sections and provide examples. (Primera rama: Cosas que influyen en la salud. Nombrad las cuatro secciones y dar ejemplos).
- Second branch: Types of ilness. Infectious ilness are caused by micro-organisms: Virus, Bacteria, Protozoa, Fungi and ilness they can cause. Non-infectious ilness: malfunction of an organ or social causes: examples of both. (Segunda rama, tipos de enfermedades. Enfermedades infecciosas causadas por virus, protozoos, hongos o bacterias y enfermedades que pueden ocasionar. Enfermedades no infecciosas: fallo en algún órgano o con causas sociales: ejemplos de los dos tipos).

Besides, we worked on our Science Workbooks page 32. 

- En el ejercicio 1 hay un listening que podéis escuchar desde los archivos de audio que subí a comienzos del curso. Se trata de contestar a las preguntas tras escuchar a los trabajadores de la salud que entrevistan.

- En el ejercicio 2 hay que dar una explicación y dos ejemplos de lo que son non-infectious ilnesses.

- El ejercicio 3 trata de completar ese resumen con los aspectos más importantes de las enfermedades infecciosas.

Today we are going to start unit 4, entitle "Health, it's good for all". Here you have a summary of what we did in class so you can do the same at home.
